              Advent/Christmas Presentation

We don’t have to tell you that the holidays are coming very quickly.  Don’t they always?
For our last day of classes before the Christmas break we are planning a concert/presentation.

These will be during normal class times:
Tuesday, December 15 for the Tuesday classes
Wednesday, December 16 for the Wednesday classes
Thursday, December 17 for the Thursday classes
Saturday, December 19 for the Saturday classes

We will have these concerts in the Church.  The only possible problem will
be on the Saturday if a funeral comes in.  We can make a last minute adjustment if that happens. We’ll
call you if it does.

Parents are of course welcome to attend.  All parents should be told that the concert may not take up the
entire hour and a quarter so they should be at the church to sign out their children earlier than usual.

Grade levels will have a different Christmas Carol to prepare.  There will be two to be sung by all of the
grades together.

You’ll get a CD each week with the songs for your grade.  Kindly bring in a CD player each session for
your rehearsals.

Level 2 will get a DVD from which the children will learn “Christmas Star.”  DVD players are at the front
desk and need to be hooked up to the TV in the classroom.

Our good wishes as we try to bring to mind the true meaning of Christmas.

Class Gifts

Each class should decide on an Advent prayer intention.  Each child should write his/her prayer intention
on a piece of paper. Catechists should collect papers and wrap them in a small box (think jewelry size
boxes.)  The wrapping may be as plain or fancy as the class and catechist desires.  On each box there
should be an identification tag, e.g. Mrs. Brown’s Level 3 religious ed class.  A child should be assigned
to bring it forward at the appropriate time. After all of the Advent presentations we hope to be able to
place these gifts of Advent prayer in a larger box somewhere near the Nativity scene in the Church.
